OBEDIENCE and WORKS

7 Therefore, to you who believe, He is precious; but to those who are disobedient, 8…They stumble, being disobedient to the word, to which they also were appointed. (1 Peter 2:7-8 NKJV)
DOING is part of the Christian Evangel. We can't confuse obedient action and effort with WORKS. WORKS is a symbolic word within Scripture and Classical Christianity often defining an erroneous concept of a way to God and His favor either without Christ or in ADDITION to Christ. Very clearly Scripture and by extension Classical Christianity declare there is no such thing! Either of these paths (without Christ or in addition to Christ) will NOT get one to God and His favor!
“Jesus is not one of many ways to approach God, nor is He the best of several ways, He is the ONLY WAY!” (AW Tozer)
However, OBEDIENCE to God is NOT presented in the Bible as a synonym for WORKS! We should not; cannot equate the two!
We must NOT say we aren’t doing what God says because we don’t believe in a WORKS DOCTRINE! That is to say, I can disobey God on the premise that I am obeying Him by not doing what He says—That is not only contradictory but is a line of thinking that borders on insanity!
In fact, often in scripture OBEDIENCE is recognized as the central act of Faith!

9 And having been perfected, He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him, (Hebrews 5:9 NKJV).
